Based on public supplier documentation and editorial analysis, not hands-on testing. Confirm current plan features and commercial terms before buying.

Put the two pricing pages side by side and they look like twins: $49 a month to start. It is tempting to stop there and pick on gut feel.

Do not. Those two price tags buy different user limits, different fee percentages and different charges for bookings that do not come through your website. A business with eight staff and lots of hotel sales could have a very different bill from one with two staff selling mostly on Viator. This comparison unpacks the matching headline, climbs both ladders, and ends with one reseller booking you should push through both trials.

What $49 actually buys

Bókun START shows $49/month plus 1.5% on applicable bookings, with five users at most, plus resource management, gift cards and payment links. Rezdy Foundation shows the same $49/month but adds 3% to each online booking, and includes a guest manifest and centralised resources, and its comparison lists unlimited products, users and agents.[1][2]

So the twins are not twins. Bókun caps your logins and takes a smaller percentage. Rezdy lets everyone log in and takes a larger percentage of online sales.

Currency deserves a moment too. Bókun's page does not confirm your billing currency from its dollar sign alone. Rezdy's structured pricing data identifies USD, and its visible page notes that Australian GST is excluded. Confirm the regional offer before either number goes into your budget.[1][2]

Climbing the ladders

The entry plans rarely tell the whole story, because the features operators care about often live one or two rungs up.

Step up to Bókun PLUS and the display reads $149/month plus 1.25%, for up to ten users, with dedicated agent booking areas, Zapier and additional onboarding help. At the top, PREMIUM reads $499 plus 1%, unlocking unlimited users and management of several companies.[1]

On Rezdy, Accelerate displays $99/month plus 3% online and adds packages, extras, vouchers and automated customer notifications. Expansion displays $249/month plus 3% and adds API access, webhooks and advanced reporting.[2]

If your hotel partners need their own selling area, or your staff depend on an integration, compare the tiers that actually contain those workflows. Comparing the two entry plans would be comparing products you would not end up buying.

Three kinds of booking, three different bills

This is where the two vendors diverge most, and where a spreadsheet earns its keep.

Viator bookings on START, PLUS and PREMIUM carry no Bókun booking fee, and offline bookings carry none either. Its separate Channel Manager product charges 0.5%-1.5% on Viator reservations. Viator's commission and payment-related charges are separate in every case.[1]

Rezdy charges for offline or agent bookings per booking: $1 on Foundation, $0.85 on Accelerate and $0.70 on Expansion, on top of the online percentage. So do not quietly file every reseller sale as a direct online booking when you model costs. Ask which category your actual agents fall into, and how amendments and refunds affect what you are billed.[2]

If you want to keep your current booking system

Sometimes the right answer is not a full switch. Both vendors document ways to connect their channel management to another reservation platform. Bókun describes a single API connection through its separate Channel Manager. Rezdy says its Channel Manager comes with its booking plans, and can also be used alongside an existing system or through the RezdyConnect API.[1][3]

If your current booking engine already runs the dock or the rental desk well, look into that connection before paying for a full migration. You will still need to confirm compatibility, who is responsible for implementation, and the channel-only price. A claim about network size does not prove your particular product options will map correctly.

Put one hotel booking through both trials

Here is a fictional test worth running in both. A morning boat departure is sold direct and through a hotel agent. Make bookings through the approved test process, then move the departure and cancel one group. Keep your booking reference and the channel's reference together. After each change, check the remaining seats, the guest notification, the commission record and who owns the refund.

Then hand the phone to an ordinary member of staff and ask them to find the booking. Bókun advertises a 14-day trial without a card; Rezdy advertises 21 days without a card. Check whether the channel you need can actually be tested safely within that window, rather than assuming trial length guarantees integration access.[1][2]

Our conditional verdict

If you are replacing your system, Viator drives your bookings and five users are enough, Bókun START is the more useful first trial, because its paid-plan exemption and resource tools are documented. If your team needs lots of logins at entry level, run Rezdy Foundation in parallel. And if guest automation, agent areas or APIs are non-negotiable, move the whole comparison up to the tiers that include them.[1][2]

Neither is settled until the same amendment scenario works and a full quote covers your real sales mix. Keep your trial results with the proposed contract, including how you would export your data and which payment methods are supported in your country. The cost worksheet helps you price each fee stream separately.

Compare a booking system’s total cost by separating its subscription, online booking fees, agent or offline fees, and channel-manager product charges.
